The growing coworking and community hub of 312 Main will soon be welcoming a new tenant – Pigeon Park Savings.
Over the next year, Pigeon Park Savings will be moving from 92 East Hastings to 312 Main Street. A new Indigenous-led affordable housing and healing centre project is being proposed for the corner of East Hastings Street and Columbia Street in Vancouver where Pigeon Park Savings has been operated collaboratively by Vancity and PHS Community Services since 2004.
Pigeon Park Savings provides people living on low incomes access to basic financial services. It’s an integral part of the community serving roughly 4,000 members. It was a priority that it remain in the neighbourhood and we’re pleased that it’s moving just over a block away to its new home, here at 312 Main.
The move also represents an opportunity to build on 312 Main’s mission of supporting financial resiliency in the Downtown Eastside.
The plan is for the new branch to be accessed from its own ground floor entrance to the building on the Main Street side. Construction is expected to begin early next year and it is anticipated that Pigeon Park Savings will be moving in late spring of 2020.
Stay tuned for more information in the months ahead.
