Silver Tubby Fund

In 2000, the Silver Tubby Fund was created in memory of a huge Silver Tabby cat with attitude.  Income from the Fund will be used to support social change, as well as organizations providing environmental and animal protection.

It was felt by the founders of the Fund that there were smaller, alternative organizations doing valuable work in the community. These organizations have a much more onerous time trying to get funding than larger mainstream ones, so we have focused on granting to these smaller organizations. We are also attempting to make funding choices based on a different values system.

Some past grant recipients include:

  • Prostitution Alternatives, Counseling and Education Society
  • Greater Vancouver Street Cat Society
  • Burns Bog Preservation Society
  • The Kettle Friendship Society
  • BC Coalition of People with Disabilities
  • Vancouver Food Bank
  • BC Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
  • Vancouver Folk Music Festival Society
  • Langley Animal Protection Society
  • Battered Women Support Services
