Collective Impact Funds: Empowering Communities Together

This Giving Tuesday, we’re excited to introduce our Collective Impact Funds, developed to reflect Vancity Community Foundation’s (VCF) new strategic plan and priorities. These funds are designed to make giving simpler, more impactful and rooted in trust.

Margaret Mitchell Fund for Women

Fund
The Margaret Mitchell Fund for Women was created to support programs and initiatives that promote economic and social justice for women, with a focus on Vancouver East.

Alexandra Paproski #XOXO Fund

Fund
The Alexandra Paproski #XOXO Fund was created to honour the public and community service of Bette and Steve Paproski. Grants from this fund will support the dream of post secondary education for young (teen) parents and their children.

Ken Lyotier Fund

Fund
The Ken Lyotier Fund will support initiatives in the DTES which are intended to improve the quality of life for members of the community through social justice, economic inclusion, and social and environmental innovation.

Innovation and Compassion in the DTES

Story
Ken Lyotier was a champion of the people in the Downtown Eastside, where he lived and worked since the 1970s. He was a tireless innovator and advocate for those living in poverty and for “binners,” people who earn money by collecting and returning recyclables.

Alayne Keough Fund

The Alayne Keough Fund gives aid in the fields of poverty and social advocacy.

Genesa Greening appointed CEO of Vancity Community Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Vancity Community Foundation (VCF) today announced the appointment of Genesa Greening as Chief Executive Officer. Effective February 14, Genesa replaces Allison Felker who served as the interim executive director of the Foundation since 2018.

2020 Homeless Count

Initiative
Governments, funders and community agencies rely on data from homeless counts to help make informed policy and program decisions. As in previous years, the goals of the 2020 Homeless Count are to obtain a reliable estimate on the number of people experiencing homelessness, to obtain a demographic profile of those individuals through the count survey, and to identify long-term data trends of homelessness in the region.
