
Genesa joined the Foundation in 2022 as Chief Executive Officer after five years as the President and CEO of BC Women's Health Foundation (BCWHF).
Genesa Greening is the Chief Executive Officer of the Vancity Community Foundation, where she leads a team committed to advancing equity, justice and sustainability through community-led solutions. With nearly 30 years of experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, Genesa brings a deep understanding of how to drive systems change while remaining grounded in the lived realities of the communities the Foundation serves.
Under her leadership, the Foundation approaches its work through the lenses of climate justice, decolonization, anti-racism and trust-based philanthropy. Genesa is known for her strategic insight, collaborative leadership style and unwavering commitment to building a more inclusive and resilient social impact ecosystem.
Her career has spanned senior roles in organizations focused on gender equity, housing, mental health and community development. She also contributes her expertise as a volunteer board member, currently serving as Board Chair of the Greater Vancouver Elizabeth Fry Society and as a director with the Elizabeth Bagshaw Clinic and the First Nations Health Foundation.
Genesa lives and works on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She is deeply committed to Reconciliation and to supporting Indigenous-led solutions in all aspects of her work.
Genesa is a respected voice in the sector and a frequent speaker on topics including nonprofit governance, systems change and the evolving role of philanthropy in advancing social and environmental justice.
Outside of her professional life, Genesa, who grew up in Newfoundland and Labrador, is an avid reader, a passionate advocate for the arts and finds joy in spending time with her family and exploring the natural beauty of the West Coast.
